Thira Municipality made since the completion of the construction work, systematic and persistent efforts to resolve all outstanding issues that prevented the disposal of the site to the public. The positive outcome of all these efforts put an end to a long and displeased history.

In order to the archaeological site of Akrotiri to be staffed and until completion of the seasonal staff through ASEP recruitment, after communication between the Deputy Minister, Mr. Alivizatos and the Thira Mayor Mr. Zorzos, the Minister has committed to place personnel on security duties, in addition to the existing staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and for as long as needed.
